What is filed at the Principal Bench

The Armed Forces Tribunal Act, 2007 gives the Tribunal power over service disputes of persons subject to the Army Act, 1950, the Navy Act, 1957, and the Air Force Act, 1950, and over appeals from courts-martial. At the Principal Bench the firm’s work typically includes:

• Disability pension and broad-banding, including Medical Board and attributability disputes
• Special and liberalised family pension for next of kin, including Veer Nari claims
• Promotion, ACR, and selection-board complaints
• Discharge, dismissal, and show-cause challenges
• Court-martial appeals and connected bail

Where the Tribunal’s order is to be tested, the next forum is a statutory appeal to the Supreme Court under sections 30 and 31 of the Act, or, in a proper case, a writ before the High Court of Delhi.
